How we use your details
We collect very little, and only when you choose to send us something.
Who we are
heritage.world is an independent guide to the World Heritage List. It is not affiliated with UNESCO. The site is run by [operator name and contact address to be added before launch].
What we collect, and why
We have no accounts, and you can read the whole site without giving us anything. We collect details only through three forms.
- Newsletter. Your email address, the time you signed up and the page you signed up from. We use it to send the newsletter, which we have not started sending yet. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Suggesting a correction or addition. Your name, email address and what you tell us (including any link you give as evidence), and whether you would like credit and a link. We use your email address only to ask you a question about your suggestion. If you ask for credit, we show your name, and the link if we accept it, on the site's page. We never show your email address.
- Sponsorship enquiries. Your name, organisation, email address, optional phone number and your message. We use them only to reply to you.
We ask for your agreement on each form. We do not buy, sell or share these details for marketing.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The site remembers your light or dark setting in your browser, and that stays on your device. The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check that runs only when you start filling in a form.
Who can see it, and where it is kept
Our editors can see what you send. It is stored with Cloudflare, which also hosts the site and runs the spam check, and Cloudflare may process it in other countries. To limit abuse we keep a short-lived count of how often a form is used from one connection. It uses a one-way code, not your address, and it expires within a couple of days.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep suggestions and enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with what you sent, and to keep a record of who has helped. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act you can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, withdraw your agreement, or object to how we use it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or to Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee.
To make a request, send us a message, choosing “Something else, or a privacy request” as the section, and tell us which email address to look for.
